Here are the motorhome dealers, accessory shops and workshops we have been able to confirm within 110 km of Almuñécar, plus tyres, vehicle inspection, breakdowns, hire and the two trade fairs. Fact-checked 02-11-2026

Checked against the companies' own websites, the inspection company Veiasa's list of stations, Salón Andaluz del Caravaning's own website and OpenStreetMap. What we could not confirm: opening hours (they change – phone or check the website), whether all workshops can take motorhomes over 3.500 kg, a workshop specifically for motorhomes in Motril or Almuñécar (we have not found one), hire companies' prices for 2027 and the dates of the trade fairs in 2027.

The quick overview

There is no motorhome dealer in Almuñécar itself or in Motril. For everyday things – tyres, oil, inspection – you can manage locally. But for the heater, the fridge, the gas system, the solar panels or the awning you need to go to Granada or Málaga. Always phone first: many of the workshops are busy, especially in spring, and most work by appointment.

Family Plan Camper Accesorios – Torrox-Costa (25 km)

The nearest proper accessory shop. It has a physical shop on Avenida Esperanto in Torrox-Costa and sells accessories for campervans, caravans and motorhomes – including awnings and canopies, levelling ramps and kitchen equipment. The company also hires out motorhomes from Torrox. According to the website, the shop is only open in the mornings on weekdays, so check the times on familyplancamperaccesorios.com before you drive there.

Autocaravanas Seyla – Málaga (74 km)

Located on Avenida José Ortega y Gasset in Campanillas, west of Málaga. Seyla hires out and sells motorhomes and has a shop with spare parts and accessories (according to the website, from catalogues including Frankana-Freiko, Dometic and Movera). According to the website, you can also empty grey and black waste water here – ask whether this also applies if you are not a customer. See acseyla.es.

Mena Caravaning – Churriana (72 km)

Caravan dealer (Adria and Hobby) at Carretera de Coín 38 in Churriana, close to Málaga airport. It has a workshop and a large range of spare parts and accessories for caravans, motorhomes and campervans – and orders in parts if they do not have them. See menacaravaning.com.

Decathlon – Motril (14 km)

For chairs, tables, cool boxes, lamps and other camping equipment, Decathlon in Motril is the nearest. You will not find parts for the motorhome itself here. There are also several Decathlon shops in Granada. See the shop's page.

Workshops for motorhomes

An ordinary garage can often handle the engine, brakes and oil – but the "living area" (heater, fridge, gas, water, 12-volt, solar panels, awning, roof vents and fibreglass bodywork) needs a workshop that knows motorhomes. Always ask whether the workshop can fit your vehicle in: height, length and weight.

Surcaravan Premium – Alhaurín de la Torre (80 km)

Formerly Autocaravanas Hidalgo Málaga, now Surcaravan Premium, on the La Moraga industrial estate west of Málaga. According to its own website, the workshop is a service partner for Truma, Dometic, Thetford, Victron Energy, Fiamma and several others, and the official after-sales service for Bürstner, Hymer, Eriba, Carado, Etrusco and Laika. The workshop also does mechanical work, bodywork and paint, accident repairs, fitting of accessories and homologaciones (approval of conversions). There is an accessory shop and hire. See surcaravanpremium.com.

Caravanas Autostar – Otura (40 km)

A family business on the Carretera de Motril at Otura, just south of Granada – the nearest motorhome workshop to Almuñécar. Sells new and used caravans and motorhomes (including Weinsberg, Knaus and Fendt), has a workshop, spare parts and accessories, and 24-hour guarded storage for motorhomes, caravans and boats. See caravanasautostar.com.

Autocaravanas Sierra Nevada – Santa Fe (51 km)

A dealer in used motorhomes – according to its own website 80–100 vehicles on display across more than 3.000 m² – on the industrial estate at Santa Fe, about 10 minutes west of Granada. According to its own website, it has its own 2.500 m² workshop and a one-year warranty on used vehicles. See autocaravanassierranevada.com.

Autocaravanas Norte – Campillos (110 km)

The Málaga branch of a Spanish chain with branches in Álava, Madrid and Barcelona, among others, at Carretera de Antequera 7 (A-384) in Campillos. Dealer for Benimar, Challenger, McLouis, Mobilvetta and Elnagh, among others, with a workshop at the same address: bodywork and paint, oil and tyre changes, pre-inspection checks and faults on both the engine and the living area. The chain says it has official workshops for Dometic, Truma, Webasto and Thetford – we have not been able to see whether this applies to Campillos specifically. See autocaravanasnorte.com.

Caravan King Almería – La Gangosa (95 km)

To the east: a dealer in new and used caravans and motorhomes with its own workshop on Calle Sierra de Grazalema in La Gangosa (Vícar), west of Almería. By appointment only. See caravankingalmeria.com. In the Almería area, Hispavan also advertises a workshop and official service for Truma, Fiamma and Victron – we have not found their address.

Gas, electrics, solar panels and awnings

It is the same workshops: Surcaravan Premium itself mentions Truma and Dometic (heating, fridges, air conditioning), Victron (electrics, batteries, solar panels) and Fiamma (awnings, bike racks). At Autocaravanas Norte, Truma, Dometic and Webasto are listed at chain level. Filling up with gas, bottled gas and adapters are covered in Emptying, water and gas. Never let anyone other than an authorised workshop tinker with the gas system.

Fiat Ducato and other large vans

Most motorhomes are built on a Fiat Ducato. The engine, gearbox and brakes can be serviced at the brand's own commercial vehicle workshops. Motordos says on its website that it is the official Fiat Professional dealer for Granada, and that you can book a workshop appointment for Fiat Professional. Motordos also has a Fiat branch with a workshop on Carretera de Almería in Motril (16 km). Phone and ask whether the Motril branch takes the Ducato and whether your vehicle will fit in the workshop. See motordos-fcagroup.es.

We have not yet checked the dealers for Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter, Citroën, Peugeot and other base vehicles.

Tyres

Motorhomes run on reinforced tyres, marked C (for vans) or CP (specifically for motorhomes). Buy the same type and load rating as stated in the registration certificate. If you need a tyre straight away, phone first and ask whether they have your size in stock.

  • Euromaster Almuñécar, Calle Itrabo, in town. According to Euromaster's own website, a workshop for light vehicles: tyre changes, punctures and wheel alignment. See euromaster-neumaticos.es.
  • Euromaster Motril (Hermanos González) on Carretera de Almería, 16 km. Sells tyres for cars, vans and lorries.

Vehicle inspection – ITV

In Spain the vehicle inspection is called ITV, and in Andalusia it is carried out by the public company Veiasa. You book an appointment at veiasa.es (or itvcita.com). ITV applies to vehicles with Spanish number plates – for example a motorhome you have bought in Spain. A Danish motorhome must be inspected under Danish rules. If the inspection falls due while you are in Spain, ask the Danish Road Traffic Authority (Færdselsstyrelsen) in good time – we have not been able to confirm whether an inspection in another EU country can be used.

  • ITV Motril, Ctra. de Almería km 1,3 (16 km). According to Veiasa there are lanes for heavy vehicles – the website does not quite agree with itself on how many.
  • ITV Granada, Avenida de Andalucía (52 km), and ITV Peligros on the Polígono Juncaril north of Granada (56 km).

If your motorhome is over 3.500 kg, ask when you book whether the station has a lane for heavy vehicles that day.

Breakdowns and towing

The general rules for breakdowns – hi-vis vest, warning triangle or V16 light, and where to stand – are on the page Local customs and special rules. In short: a Danish vehicle may still use warning triangles. If lives are at risk or someone has been injured: call 112.

For a motorhome there are a few extra things:

  • Call your own insurer's roadside assistance (the number is on the green card or in the policy) before you call any old tow truck.
  • Check weight and length in the policy. Not all roadside assistance agreements cover vehicles over 3.500 kg, and a tow truck for cars cannot take a large motorhome. Give the motorhome's gross weight, length and height when you call – then they will send the right truck.
  • Ask to be taken to a workshop that can handle motorhomes – see the list above. An ordinary garage may not be able to get the vehicle in.
  • Stay behind the crash barrier on the motorway, even if the vehicle is your home.

Insurance and roadside assistance for winter stayers are also covered in Wintering in a motorhome. Weight rules and driving licences are covered in Roads, tolls and parking.

Hire a motorhome

Several hire companies have pick-up points on the industrial estates west of Málaga, not far from the airport. Prices change with the season – see them on the hire company's own website. We have confirmed the addresses on the hire companies' own websites:

  • Family Plan Camper, Torrox (25 km) – closest to Almuñécar. For a surcharge, the vehicle can be collected at Málaga airport. familyplancamper.com
  • Autocaravanas Seyla, Campanillas, Málaga (74 km) – motorhomes and campervans. acseyla.es
  • roadsurfer, Calle José Calderón 120, Campanillas (76 km). According to roadsurfer: bus A from the airport to Avda. de Andalucía, change to bus 25 to the José Calderón stop. roadsurfer.com
  • Indie Campers, depot on the Polígono La Moraga, Alhaurín de la Torre (80 km). indiecampers.com
  • Surcaravan Premium, same industrial estate – a small fleet of just a few vehicles. surcaravanpremium.com
  • McRent says on its own website that it has a rental station in Málaga – we have not found the address. mcrent.eu

If you hire a Spanish motorhome, check on collection that the vehicle has a V16 light (Spanish vehicles must have one), and ask what the excess is and whether roadside assistance is included.

The trade fairs

If you want to see lots of motorhomes at once, there are two trade fairs in Andalusia. The dates are in the festival calendar. The dates for 2027 had not been published when we checked on 02-11-2026.

  • Salón Andaluz del Caravaning at the IFECA exhibition centre in Jerez de la Frontera, at the end of February. In 2026 it was the fair's second edition, 26-02-2026 to 01-03-2026. Exhibitors: motorhomes, caravans, campervans, 4×4s and accessories, campsites and motorhome aires. Jerez is 217 km from Almuñécar as the crow flies and just under 300 km by road – it is a trip with an overnight stay. See caravaningandaluz.com.
  • Autocaravanas Norte holds a sales fair at its premises in Campillos (110 km). See the timing in the festival calendar and on autocaravanasnorte.com.

Maps and routes

The map shows all the dealers, workshops, inspection stations and trade fairs in the article. Some points mark only the street or the industrial estate – this is stated in the description. The buttons below the map open the route in Google Maps. Remember: Google Maps' car navigation does not show height, weight and width restrictions. The industrial estates are usually easy to drive in, but see Roads, tolls and parking about low bridges and narrow streets.

Good advice

  • Ring ahead before you drive there. The workshops work by appointment, and opening hours change with the season.
  • Have your vehicle's details ready: base vehicle and year, gross weight, length and height, make and model of the heater, fridge and awning. Take a photo of the rating plates.
  • Bring the most important spare parts from home: fuses, a spare gas hose and regulator, toilet chemicals and a water filter. Special parts can take days to get hold of.
  • Use Google Translate or write an email if you don't speak Spanish. Keep it short: what isn't working, since when, and which make.
  • Get a written quote (presupuesto) before major repairs, and keep the invoice – you'll need it for your insurance.
  • Check your breakdown cover at home before you head south: does it cover the weight and length, and how far will you be towed?
  • See also: Motorhomes in Almuñécar, Rules and Spots and trips.

We have no arrangement with any of these businesses. The list is not complete – we only mention those we have been able to confirm on their own website. If you know a good workshop on the Costa Tropical that takes motorhomes, please write to us.
