La Herradura in the evening – bars, live music and sunsets

La Herradura, 10 km west of Playa Tropical, is a little more relaxed and a little more international than Almuñécar. In the evening life gathers on the Paseo Andrés Segovia seafront promenade: chiringuitos, a beach club with sunset and DJ, and a bar with live bands all year round. Here are the places we have been able to confirm, the Marina del Este marina and the way home without a car.

Fact-checked 02-11-2026

Checked against Bambú Club's Instagram and Facebook and La Cochera's Facebook (as seen in search results), Euro Weekly News (21-04-2026 and 13-05-2026), The Seaside Gazette (2009, 2010, 2024 and 2025), Almuñécar Council (Noches en Azul), festivalesdeespana.com, almunecarinfo.com and OpenStreetMap. Internet access was limited: we could only read search results, not the pages themselves. What we could not confirm: opening hours for the individual venues, what music Bambú Club's DJs play, whether Chiringuito El Bambú and the Bonache pub still have music, the last night bus in the winter timetable, and an official taxi number.

Paseo Andrés Segovia – the seafront promenade

All of La Herradura's nightlife is along the approx. 2 km promenade that follows the beach in the horseshoe bay. Restaurants, chiringuitos and bars stand side by side here. In summer people stroll up and down until long after midnight. In winter it is mainly the foreign residents who keep a couple of the bars going.

Bambú Club – beach club with sunset and DJ

Paseo Andrés Segovia 48. On Instagram the venue calls itself a beach club with "sunset & night party". It took bookings for New Year's Eve 2025. Guest reviews mention good DJs, cocktails, a saltwater pool and live music at sunset. It is the nearest place on the coast with both sunset and DJ, but we have not been able to read what music is played when. Programme: Instagram and Facebook.

La Cochera – live bands all year

Paseo Andrés Segovia 45. Bar with a terrace, wine, craft beers and live bands: jazz, rhythm & blues, pop, rock and Celtic music. There are concerts outside the summer too: in 2026, for example, Rodriguez Celtic Band played in April and The Turkish Gang in May, and according to Euro Weekly News people danced. The concerts start late – e.g. 23.30 on a Friday in April 2026. Programme on La Cochera's Facebook page.

Other places on the promenade

  • Chiringuito El Bambú in the middle of the beach: live music and the occasional DJ according to reviews and guides. Some sources confuse it with Bambú Club. Not dated.
  • Chiringuito Bueno: 12–23 every day according to the beach bar's Instagram. Music is not mentioned.
  • Bonache, Paseo Andrés Segovia 12: pub with opening hours 16–4 in a business directory. Not dated.

The Kasbah nightclub, which opened in 1967, closed in March 2024. The building is now holiday apartments.

Marina del Este

The Marina del Este marina is on the other side of Punta de la Mona, approx. 3 km by road from the beach in La Herradura. In the evening there are restaurants with terraces facing the boats. A travel blog mentions live music at the restaurants at weekends, but we have not been able to confirm this for 2026. Marina del Este is also part of the council's free beach concerts, Noches en Azul, in summer.

Sunset at Cerro Gordo

The best place to watch the sun go down is from the hills west of the town towards Cerro Gordo, where you look out over the whole bay. There is a restaurant with a view (Atrévete) which, according to one guide, holds the occasional concert in summer. Do not drive up there yourself if you are going to drink – the road is narrow and winding.

Good advice

  • Book a table for New Year and in August. Bambú Club takes bookings for New Year's Eve.
  • Check Facebook and Instagram on the day. Concerts and DJ nights are announced at short notice.
  • Check the last bus. The timetable changes between summer and winter. Check on alsa.com or in the app.
  • Bring a jacket. The bay is open to the sea, and it can be windy in the evening.
  • Parking. In summer it is hard to park by the promenade in the evening. Another reason to take a taxi.
  • Do's & don'ts. Read the most important rules on alcohol, driving and safety in the nightlife overview.
