Motorhome sites on the coast – from Málaga to Roquetas

Along the coast east and west of Almuñécar there are more than 20 campsites, motorhome areas and car parks within approx. 100 km as the crow flies – from Málaga Beach in the west to Roquetas de Mar in the east. Here they all are in one table with type, waste disposal, confirmed prices and honest gaps, plus a map showing every site.

Fact-checked 02-11-2026

Checked against the places' own websites (Camping El Pino, Área Málaga Beach, Camping Valle Niza, Camping Playa de Poniente, Camping Playa Granada, Don Cactus, Laguna Playa and Camping Roquetas), the Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía (the ports' motorhome areas) and OpenStreetMap. We have only used Park4night, Campercontact, Promobil and stellplatz.info to find the places. We could only read many of the Spanish pages as excerpts from a search engine, not open them directly. What we could not confirm: most prices, especially for the private motorhome areas in Torrox, Castell de Ferro, Almerimar and Roquetas; whether the port area in Caleta de Vélez is open (one source mentions closure from 30-06-2026); driving distances by road (we give distances as the crow flies); and whether the site at Rapto de Europa in Nerja still accepts motorhomes.

Three kinds of site

On the coast you will find three types of place where you can sleep in your motorhome:

  • Campsite (camping): pitches with electricity, toilets, showers and usually disposal of grey and black waste water. You may put out chairs and your awning. The most expensive, but the most comfortable.
  • Motorhome area (área de autocaravanas): a site for motorhomes only. Often private, sometimes municipal or in a port. Typically waste disposal and water, in some places electricity, showers and a washing machine. Here you stay overnight – you don't camp.
  • Car park: an ordinary car park where app users write that motorhomes are tolerated. No services, and the rules can change from one day to the next.

The difference between staying overnight and camping – and what you are allowed to do in an ordinary car park – is explained in the rules for motorhomes. Disposal points, water and gas are covered in disposal, water and gas.

The big table

The distance is as the crow flies from Almuñécar town hall. "Own site" means that the price or information is on the place's own website. "Apps" means that it only appears from users on Park4night, Campercontact or similar – and is therefore not confirmed.

Almuñécar and La Herradura themselves – with the Alclub site at Velilla and the campsites in town – are covered in motorhomes in Almuñécar and La Herradura.

To the west: Nerja, Torrox and the Axarquía

Maro and Nerja

Villa del Mar – Camping Nerja is on the N-340 in Maro, right next to the Acantilados de Maro-Cerro Gordo natural park. The local guide EsNerja calls it the only campsite in Nerja and Maro. It used to be called Camping Nerja. We have not been able to find the campsite's own website or a confirmed price.

There is no campsite in Nerja itself. The local guide EsNerja writes that the municipal Parking Rapto de Europa on the N-340 has a fenced area for motorhomes with water and black waste water disposal, and that parking is free. We have not been able to confirm this with the town council. Several other car parks in the centre have height barriers of 2,0–2,3 m according to OpenStreetMap, so don't drive into the town centre. See roads and parking.

Torrox Costa – the most sites in one place

Torrox Costa has the largest cluster of sites along the whole stretch. Within a couple of kilometres along Avenida El Peñoncillo and by Torrox Park there is a campsite and at least four private motorhome areas.

Camping El Pino is at Avenida Miguel de Cervantes 22 in Torrox Costa. The campsite's own price list for 2026 (read 02-11-2026) says:

  • 18 € (≈ 134 kr.) per night for a large pitch with 2 adults and a motorhome outside the high season. This also applies in November 2026 (except Halloween, which counts as mid-season).
  • 27 € (≈ 201 kr.) in the mid-season (15 June–31 July, 23 August–15 September, Easter and Halloween) and 34 € (≈ 254 kr.) from 1 to 22 August.
  • The price includes 10 kWh of electricity. Each kWh above that costs 0,40 € (≈ 2,98 kr.).
  • Winter offer: 100 € (≈ 746 kr.) per week for a medium pitch and 115 € (≈ 858 kr.) for a large one. Long stays are arranged directly.
  • Deposit 50 € (≈ 373 kr.) in cash for short stays and 100 € (≈ 746 kr.) for long ones.

According to the website, the motorhome pitches are 60–100 m², and at the entrance there is a station for grey waste water and drinking water. A user on Campercontact warns that the trees make it difficult to manoeuvre large motorhomes. Ask for a pitch that suits your length.

We only know the private motorhome areas in Torrox Costa from apps and motorhome guides:

  • Camper Torrox – a new site (added to Park4night in December 2025), approx. 900 m from the town. Disposal of grey and black waste water and water, but according to users no toilets yet. Book a single night by email or WhatsApp.
  • Camper Area MiluCar – Campercontact lists 57 spaces, open all year round and free waste disposal for guests.
  • Paradise Beach Camper – Avenida del Peñoncillo, almost on the beach.
  • Autocaravanas Miramar – Avenida del Peñoncillo, with showers and laundry according to Promobil.

Prices in apps range from approx. 11 to 17 € (≈ 127 kr.) per night, but they are not confirmed and may be out of date. Call or write before you set off.

Caleta de Vélez – the port's motorhome area

In the port of Caleta de Vélez, the Andalusian ports authority, Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía, runs a public motorhome area with 33 spaces. It is part of the authority's network of motorhome areas in its ports. According to the authority's website, the site is automated: you drive in, enter your number plate at a machine, choose a free (green) space and the number of nights, and pay by card. The ticket must be displayed on the windscreen. Toilets and showers are opened via the port's 24-hour phone line.

We have not been able to find the price on the authority's website. A brochure from the Junta de Andalucía mentions 12,20 € (≈ 91,01 kr.) per 24 hours – but that was the price in 2016. A search also turned up an excerpt saying that the ports authority is closing its motorhome areas from 30-06-2026. We have not been able to confirm this, and we don't know whether it applies to Caleta de Vélez. Check puertosdeandalucia.es before you set off.

Torre del Mar, Almayate and Benajarafe

Camping Laguna Playa is at the end of the promenade in Torre del Mar. According to its own website there are 129 pitches of approx. 70 m² with electricity (10 A), water and drainage, and the campsite is open all year round. We could not read the price list.

Users also mention a motorhome area on the boulevard between Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar (max. 10 m according to Campercontact). We have not been able to confirm who runs it or exactly where it is, so it is not on the map. In Almayate, several small private sites are listed in OpenStreetMap, and Camping Almayate Costa is on the N-340a. We have not looked into these more closely.

Camping Valle Niza Playa is on the N-340, km 264,1 in Benajarafe, and is open all year round with a pool that is also open in winter. Its own website shows two different price lists: the Spanish one says 22 € (≈ 164 kr.) for a pitch with 2 people outside the high season (15 September–14 June), the English one 24,20 € (≈ 181 kr.). Electricity costs 4,40 € (≈ 32,82 kr.) per 24 hours. Ask the campsite which price applies.

Málaga – Área Málaga Beach

Área Málaga Beach is by the beach in La Araña, on the boundary between Málaga and Rincón de la Victoria, approx. 8 km from the centre of Málaga. It is the only site with motorhome services close to Málaga city that we have been able to confirm. According to its own website (read 02-11-2026):

  • 106 spaces, open all 365 days of the year. The vehicle gate is open 8–22.
  • Prices per night: from 22 € (≈ 164 kr.) (other rows, 4 A), 23 € (≈ 172 kr.) with 6 A, 35 € (≈ 261 kr.) in the front row by the beach, 25–26 € (≈ 194 kr.) for motorhomes over 8 m, 34–35 € (≈ 261 kr.) over 12 m and 45 € (≈ 336 kr.) for an XXL space with 10 A. The website describes the prices as a guide.
  • Shower 1 € (≈ 7,46 kr.), washing machine or tumble dryer 5 € (≈ 37,30 kr.), extra person 12 € (≈ 89,52 kr.).
  • Waste disposal only (no overnight stay): 11 € (≈ 82,06 kr.).
  • If you book online, there is a minimum of 3 nights, and you pay 50 % when booking.

According to users, the bus to central Málaga stops right by the site. If you want to drive all the way into Málaga, read about the low-emission zone in roads and parking.

To the east: Motril, Castell de Ferro and Almería

Motril – the nearest campsites

By Playa de Poniente in Motril there are two campsites side by side, only approx. 13 km as the crow flies from Almuñécar. They are the nearest campsites east of the town.

Camping Playa de Poniente has, according to its own website, pitches and a service area for motorhomes, 202 pitches of 60–110 m² with electricity, and it mentions long winter stays. We have not been able to confirm on its own website whether it is open all year round. However, its own website shows two different price lists for 2026 (e.g. 16 € (≈ 119 kr.) or 18,50 € (≈ 138 kr.) for an L pitch in the high season, plus people). We therefore give no price. In July and August there is a minimum of 7 nights.

Camping Playa Granada (Camino del Pelaíllo 100, tourism register CM/GR/00059) has, according to its own website, filling and emptying for motorhomes, grey waste water and chemical toilet disposal, and wifi. We have not been able to find the price on its own website.

Carchuna and Calahonda

Camping Don Cactus is by the beach in Carchuna between Motril and Calahonda. According to its own website it is open all year round and gives up to 70 % discount on long stays from September to June. The motorhome pitches (Mediterránea and Tropical) are 70 m² for 2 people and one vehicle. We could not read the price list. According to its own website, members of the chain's club (Club CampingRed) can get a pitch with electricity for two for 17,50 € (≈ 131 kr.) per night in exchange for 20 "stars" – this does not apply to ordinary guests.

In Calahonda itself we have not found any motorhome area in OpenStreetMap or with the town council.

Castell de Ferro – three sites by the beach

Castell de Ferro has a campsite and two private motorhome areas close to the beach:

  • Camping Huerta Romero – right by the beach. Prices in apps vary a lot, so we don't give one.
  • Área Camper Castell (Rambla de los Hileros 24B) – according to Park4night approx. 120 m from the beach, with electricity, water, toilets, showers and wifi. Users mention weekly and monthly rates, but they are not confirmed.
  • Tropic Autocaravanas – on the N-340. According to Park4night it was closed 24 August–15 September 2025, so check that it is open.

La Mamola and La Rábita

Camping Castillo de Baños lies on the beach between Castell de Ferro and La Mamola (Polopos municipality). It belongs to the same chain as Don Cactus and, according to Alan Rogers, is open all year. Price not confirmed. In La Mamola and La Rábita we have not found any motorhome area that we can confirm. Users mention a car park by the seafront promenade in La Rábita (Albuñol), but we do not know whether overnight stays are allowed there.

Adra, Balerma and Almerimar

East of Granada province, in Almería, Camping La Habana and Camping Las Vegas sit right next to each other in Adra. Both are open all year according to the tourism register (andalucia.org). According to apps, Camping Mar Azul in Balerma has pitches of 70–140 m², plus motorhome emptying and washing.

I In Almerimar there is a motorhome area by the marina (Calle del Faro). Apps state 32 or 67 spaces and a price of around 18 € (≈ 134 kr.) per night, but we have found it on neither the marina's nor the town council's website. Reviews are mixed.

Roquetas de Mar

According to its own website, Camping Roquetas is open all year, with prices from 29,45 € (≈ 220 kr.) per night for a standard 60 m² pitch to 36,80 € (≈ 275 kr.) for a pitch of 100–140 m². The website does not say which year or season the prices apply to, so ask before you set off. According to apps, there is also the private Camper Park Roquetas (Carretera La Marina 2) with showers, laundry and emptying, plus a free car park on Avenida de la Aduana with no services, where only a few spaces are for motorhomes.

Roquetas is approx. 98 km as the crow flies from Almuñécar. Further east, Cabo de Gata is covered in spots and trips.

Which site suits you?

  • A short trip from Almuñécar: Motril (Playa de Poniente or Playa Granada) to the east or Torrox Costa to the west.
  • Confirmed price and winter offer: Camping El Pino in Torrox Costa.
  • Close to Málaga city: Área Málaga Beach.
  • Cheap and simple: the private áreas in Torrox Costa and Castell de Ferro – but ring first, as the prices are not confirmed.
  • Wintering: see wintering in a motorhome. Camping El Pino and Don Cactus themselves mention winter offers or discounts on long stays.

Maps and routes

The map shows all 26 places in the table. The buttons below the map open the routes in Google Maps. Remember that Google Maps' car navigation does not show height, weight and width restrictions. Take the A-7 (motorway, toll-free) between the towns and avoid the old towns. See roads and parking.

Good advice

  • Ring or write before you set off. Only a few prices on the coast are confirmed on the places' own websites.
  • Ask about length. Some campsites have trees and narrow roads, and several áreas have a 10 m maximum.
  • Book in high season. Several campsites have a minimum number of nights in July and August.
  • Ask for the winter price. Several campsites give discounts on long stays from September to June.
  • Check the harbour area in Caleta de Vélez. We do not know whether it is open after June 2026.
  • Use apps to find places, not to rely on. Park4night, Campercontact and the like are good for finding sites, but prices and rules may be out of date.
  • Only empty at emptying points. Never in nature or down drains. See emptying, water and gas.
  • Know the difference between staying overnight and camping. See the rules.

Prices and opening periods change. All prices in the article were checked on 02-11-2026 and only apply where it says "own website". Where it says "apps", the information comes from users and we have not been able to confirm it.
